On Thursday, 7 September 2017 Tear and CARE brought together experts from academic institutions, NGO’s and government for a study day on Chronic Crisis programming on Thursday, 7 September 2017. We had a morning session with students of university Van Hall Larenstein, and an afternoon session with representatives of various NGO's at the CARE-office in The Hague.

Both Tear and CARE are working with communities vulnerable to recurrent disasters (such as droughts, floods and conflict) and have been strategic partners with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address protracted crisis situations in the Horn of Africa. Both agencies have worked on group formation in order to increase resilience when other structures are no longer present (resp. Village Savings and Loan Associations (CARE) and Self Help Groups (Tear)).
