Micah Network

Tear is a member of the Micah Network, a group of 300 Christian relief, development and justice organisations from 75 countries.

Micah Network was formed in 1999 with the following aims:

• Building capacity: strengthening the capacity of participating agencies to make a biblically shaped response to the needs of poor and oppressed people
• Encouraging integral mission: speaking strongly and effectively regarding the nature of the mission of the church to proclaim and demonstrate the love of Christ to a world in need
• Advocacy: prophetically calling upon and influencing societies’ leaders and decision-makers to ‘maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed and rescue the weak and needy’.

Micah Network has a strong representation among southern-based agencies. The network creates the opportunity for northern- and southern-based agencies to join together as equals as they strive to achieve the above aims.
